Remember those times when you would play split-screen co-op (cooperative) video games on your TV? Games like Super Mario Kart, Goldeneye 007, Halo and many more. I bet all gamers remember those times fondly. Well, we won’t exactly be playing split screen games, but something similar. And that game is Left 4 Dead 2. The University Network Gaming Society is organizing a co-op event at Your University.
But first, let’s talk about this game and co-op games in general.
Left 4 Dead is a series of co-op FPS (first-person shooter), survival horror video games developed and published by Valve Corporation. Left 4 Dead takes place after a pandemic outbreak infection that transforms humans into zombies. In the United States, the Civil Emergency and Defense Agency (CEDA) creates safe zones with the aid of the military and evacuates as many people as possible. Some people, however, are immune to the infection, but they can carry and transfer the disease unintentionally. Four of these “carriers” are our main characters: Coach, Ellis, Nick, and Rochelle.
Left 4 Dead 2 is a co-op game, meaning you play with 3 other players. Your goal in the game is to survive and complete each mission until the campaign ends. In other words, your goal is to survive. There is a huge arsenal of weapons for you to choose from. You have 3 weapon slots, main weapons (for assault rifles, shotguns and such), a secondary weapon (pistols with unlimited ammo) and the third slot is for throwables (grenades, Molotov cocktails, pipe bombs, etc). A health bar is used to track a character’s health points, which can be regenerated with health packs. If the player’s HP drops to zero, they are knocked down and have to be healed by a friendly player before the time runs out.
Details about our Left 4 Dead Event
We will have 4 sets of 4 PCs, so 16 in total. Each team of 4 players will be able to enjoy this game and try to finish the campaign. We thought it would be fun to reward the team that finishes the campaign in the least
You can sign up for the event at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include your name, and bring as many friends as you can, there’s no requirement for signing up like on our other tournaments. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
