Welcome to yet another event organized by the University Network Gaming Society. In the past, we’ve held events such as CS:GO tournaments, tabletop tournaments, or DOTA 2 tournaments, but this time we’re bringing you something new. This time, we’ll be competing in World of Warcraft’s Arena.
What is Arena in World of Warcraft?
But first, for those of you who don’t play WoW, let me elaborate a bit. World of Warcraft is an MMORPG developed by Blizzard Entertainment and released back in 2004. Since then, the game has seen 7 expansion packs, with the latest being Battle For Azeroth.
Within the World of Warcraft, there’s a competitive system called the Arena. Arena is a small-scale environment where 3 players are pitted against 3 other players. The goal is to eliminate the opposing team and win the match. Usually teams will have 2 DPS and 1 Healer. This may sound boring at first, but wait until you get into it, it’s a ton of fun, trust me.
The best Arena players in World of Warcraft are rewarded with some pretty sweet in-game items such as one-time unique Gladiator flying mount and the Gladiator title, which are only obtainable once each season. That means that once you get a season-specific mount and title, it can never be obtained again, therefore making them the most sought after rewards in the game.
As usual, we will have 16 teams competing for the trophy. Each team may have an additional back up player for a total of 4 players per team. In addition, each team may have 2 additional characters they can swap after each game if they choose to. That means that you will be able to play a total of 3 classes during the tournament, and you can swap between them at any given time.
Rewards for the top 3 teams will be some in-game goodies such as store mounts, pets, cosmetic items and so on.
I would also like to take a moment to thank BoostArmory for helping us organize this tournament and provide all the necessary equipment required for this to happen. If you’re a long time World of Warcraft player but would like to improve your standing in the game, I would recommend visiting their website and checking out their services. I have personally bought multiple boosts from them, including the WoW Arena Boost. If you don’t have the gear necessary to compete in the tournament, you can always count on BoostArmory to help you out with any gearing up or powerleveling.
